In this paper, both 3-D photoelastic method and finite element method are used to analysize the stresses of CZ-3A Star-rocket unlocking device. A new hybrid method of boundary element-photoelastics is introduced to seperate the principal stresses of symmetrical cross-section in the photoelastic experiment. Total stiffness matrix is divided into several blocks for economizing computer memory in finite element computation. The value of finite element analysis accords well with that of photoelastics.
