The multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) modified with oleic acid (OA) were fabricated by using ultrasonic method and refluxing method, and the friction and wear behaviors of the MWNTs modified with OA as lubricant additive were evaluated on MPX-2000 friction and wear tester. The results indicate that the MWNTs modified with OA have lesser ratio of length to diameter and better dispersed stability than the MWNTs treated with NaOH.
