文庙是一种具有代表性的中国古建筑形式，而地方文庙随着封建统治者对尊孔祭祀活动的升级而逐渐普及。新田文庙整体格局保存状况完整，保持了文庙建筑的建设规制，是湖湘文庙代表之一。以新田文庙建筑群为例，从特点鲜明的建筑组成、庙学合一的功能组织、礼制规范的形制格局、层层递进的序列空间等方面解析其作为地方文庙建筑的平面形制和空间构成特征，进而探究湖湘文庙形制特征和空间统一性，以期为文庙建筑的保护修缮提供依据和参考。
