This study studies the propagation of dam-break flow on a horizontal dry bed with a lifting gate taken into consideration. The focus is placed on the development of an accurate and efficient gas/liquid/solid interaction numerical model, in which the free-surface evolution is captured using the Mass-Preserving Level Set (MPLS) method and gate motion is handled using the direct-forcing Immersed Boundary (IB) method.
