The karyotype of Carassius auratus red variety was studied by the chromosomes of kid-ney cells prepared by the air-drying technique and PHA culture. The results of this studyindicated that Carassius auratus red variety had 2n=100 diploid chromosomes, comprising11 pairs of metacentric ones (22m), 15 pairs of submetacentric ones(30sm), 12 pairs of subte-locentric ones (24st), and 12 pairs of acrocentric ones (24t) in accordance with Levan's stan-dard.
