The generalized active power filter(GAPF) is a new kind of active power filter that can compensate reactive power, asymmetry three-phase power, harmonic and inter-harmonic and has an extensive applicability. A GAPF and its instructional current detection arithmetic are studied in this paper. The main circuit, operation principles and instructional current detection arithmetic of GAPF are introduced and the results of a simulation and experiment on the GAPF are given.
