A review on the development of polymer composites reinforced by the ceramic-whiskers is given in this paper, such as potassium titanate whisker, zinc oxide whisker, aluminum borate whisker. The effect of whisker content, surface modification and pre-compounding process on the mechanical and tribological behaviors of polymer composites is discussed. It is confirmed that the proper surface modification method can enhance the reinforcement effect of whiskers.
