Different carbon sources were chosen to synthetize microspheres by hydrothermal method. X-ray diffraction indicated a highly disordered carbon structure. SEM images showed that the carbon microspheres had perfect spherical morphology, smooth surface and uniform particle size of 1-2 μm. Nanoscale iron oxide was synthesized on the microspheres support via hydrothermal synthetic route using Fe(NO)3 and NaOH as reagents.
