Phasor measurement units (PMUs) in a wide area measurement system (WAMS) environment offer precise estimates, improved post-disturbance analysis, and efficient advanced control. When communication resources are limited, WAMS data transmission network design must consider accuracy as a critical limitation. Focusing on the optimal resource allocation, this paper studies the system accuracy and its relation to transmission protocol design.
