In this paper, the cationic starch with high charge density is studied as anionic trash catcher (ATC). The results show that when this kind of cationic starch matches with strength agents, retention and drainage agents separately or them together, it can effectively improve the effects of the strength agents and the retention and drainage agents, the best dosage is about 0.04%. This is also proved by the charge theory. Aluminum sulfate can improve the effects of HCS as ATC, the appropriate dosage is about 1.0%.

Two-stage (prehydrolysis-kraft) pulping and CEHA bleaching process of reed were investigated in this paper. The results showed that the optimum prehydrolysis conditions are as follows: maximum temperature 175 degrees C, treatment time at maximum temperature 90 minutes, liquor ratio 1:6. The results also showed that the optimum cooking conditions of kraft pulping are as follows: maximum temperature 175 degrees C, treatment time at maximum temperature 30 minutes, sulfidity 15%, liquor ratio 1:4. A CEHA four stage bleaching was used for preparation of reed viscose pulp. Total chlorine charge in bleaching was 6% (to oven-dry pulp). The results showed that all of the indices fitted the quality standards of viscose pulp under the above optimum conditions.
