Directly anchoring Ag single atoms on α-MnO2 nanorods as efficient oxygen reduction catalysts for Mg-air fuel cell

Neutral electrolyte-based Mg-air fuel cell is a promising alternative of power sources due to low cost, high specific energy and eco-friendly. However, developing high-efficiency and low-cost oxygen reduction catalysts to facilitate the large-scale application of metal air fuel cells remains a significant challenge. In this work, Ag single atoms are directly anchored onto the surface of α-MnO2 nanorods to enhance the oxygen reduction performance in Mg-air fuel cell. The decoration of atomic Ag significantly improved the catalytic activity of α-MnO2 due to the increase in content of Mn (III) and oxygen vacancies. The Ag decorated α-MnO2 (Ag@α-MnO2) with an extreme low Ag content of 1.53 wt% demonstrates a half-wave potential of 0.85 V (vs. reversible hydrogen electrode), a limited current density of 5.8 mA cm−2 and a typical four-electron transfer pathway which is close to those of commercial Pt/C. Furthermore, it exhibits better stability and anti-poisoning capability than those of Pt/C. The Mg-air fuel cell containing Ag@α-MnO2 displayed a high power density of 107.2 mW cm−2 at current density of 140.1 mA cm−2 as well as an outstanding discharge performance. This work provides new ideas for preparing efficient and cost-effective ORR catalyst and promote the large-scale commercialization in metal-air fuel cells. © 2020 Elsevier B.V.

Transition metal compounds are attractive for their significant applications in supercapacitors and as non-noble metal catalysts for electrochemical water splitting. Herein, we develop Ni3S2 nanorods growing directly on Ni foam, which act as multifunctional additive-free Ni3S2@Ni electrode for supercapacitor and overall water splitting. Based on PVA-KOH gel electrolyte, the assembled all-solid-state Ni3S2@Ni//AC asymmetric supercapacitor delivers a high areal energy density of 0.52 mWh cm−2 at an areal power density of 9.02 mW cm−2, and exhibits an excellent cycling stability with a capacitance retention ratio of 89% after 10000 GCD cycles at a current density of 30 mA cm−2. For hydrogen evolution reaction and oxygen evolution reaction in 1 M KOH, Ni3S2@Ni electrode achieves a benchmark of 10 mA cm−2 at overpotentials of 82 mV and 310 mV, respectively. Furthermore, the assembled Ni3S2@Ni||Ni3S2@Ni electrolyzer for overall water splitting attains a current density of 10 mA cm−2 at 1.61 V. The in-situ synthesis of Ni3S2@Ni electrode enriches the applications of additive-free transition metal compounds in high-performance energy storage devices and efficient electrocatalysis. © 2019

Enhancing the catalytic activity of manganese oxide in oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is a key issue for its large-scale application in metal-air fuel cells. Ag-doped α-MnO2 nanowires without Ag or Ag2O have been successfully synthesized via a facile hydrothermal method, and the changes in both the structure and electrochemical catalytic performances after Ag doping are investigated. Compared with the pristine α-MnO2, the as-prepared Ag-doped MnO2 exhibits a significantly enhanced catalytic activity in both ORR and Mg-air fuel cell application. With Ag/Mn ratio of 1:25, Ag-doped MnO2 exhibits a typical 4e-reaction pathway and presents a 163 mV higher half-wave potential than that of the pristine α-MnO2. Furthermore, it demonstrates a power density of 75.1mWcm-2 at current density of 134.5mAcm-2 in the Mg-air fuel cells. The enhanced ORR performances are considered to be contributed from the activation of surface lattice oxygen, the improvement in conductivity and the increase in oxygen vacancies of α-MnO2. These findings provide new understanding for developing high-performance manganese oxide catalysts. © 2020 World Scientific Publishing Company.

Bacterial infection has become the major problem shared by all countries around the world at present, especially, bacterial biofilm and medical implant-associated infections become even more difficult to eradicate by their robust matrix structure, making them 1000-fold more resistant to conventional antibiotics. Therefore, it appears necessary to carry out a potent antibacterial polymeric coating with excellent antibacterial and antibiofilm performance with low coat as well as good biocompatibility. In this work, we report an innovative strategy to prepare an antibacterial coating on poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) substrate with cationic polyimidazolium salts (PIMS), using epoxy resin as curing agent, combining with surface radical polymerization of acrylic acid (AA) and Debus−Radziszewski reaction of formaldehyde, glyoxal, and chitosan. These results of In Vitro antibacterial assay, antibiofilm, hemolytic activity and In Vitro cytotoxicity test showed this antibacterial coating has good antibacterial and antibiofilm performance and biocompatibility. © 2019 Elsevier B.V.

Supercapacitor with high energy density and super-long cyclic durability is attractive for the rechargeable energy storage devices. The combination of multiple pseudo-capacitive materials is favorable for improving the energy density of supercapacitor, but the rationally designed electrode structures are highly desirable for achieving the super-long cyclic durability. Here we realize a novel hierarchical NiS/NiTe/Ni positive electrode for supercapacitor, and the assembled asymmetric supercapacitor using the positive electrode demonstrates a super-long cycle life exceeding 200 000 cycles. In the positive electrode, a porous NiTe inner layer acts as the volumetric stain buffer layer between a rigid Ni substrate and a spongy NiS outer layer. In particular, the initiation of volumetric expansion from NiTe inner layer to NiS outer layer, along with the proceeding of volumetric shrinkage from the outer to the inner layer occurring in sequence on the positive electrode play crucial roles in the super-long cycle life, for which sheds a new light on the design/synthesis of multiple pseudo-capacitive materials to achieve the outstanding cyclic stability of supercapacitors. © 2019 Elsevier B.V.

摘要:
In this work, a facile one-step hydrothermal route was demonstrated for the fabrication of Cu/Cu2O composite nanowires. Metallic Cu nanoparticles were formed via in-situ reduction on the surface of Cu2O nanowires. The investigation of scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy revealed that well-defined Cu/Cu2O composite nanowires, with diameters around 60 nm and lengths of about several microns, were formed at 100 degrees C in the presence of PVP with glucose as a reductant. Moreover, Cu nanoparticles, with diameters less than 30 nm, were highly dispersed and strongly anchored on the surface of Cu2O nanowires, forming close contact. We found that PVP played a key role in the anisotropic growth of Cu/Cu2O nanowires. The mechanism was briefly discussed. The as-prepared Cu/Cu2O composite nanowires with a suitable amount of Cu showed a further improvement on the photocatalytic efficiency for degradation of MB, probably due to the Schottky junction formed at the interface between Cu2O and metallic Cu, and the Surface plasmon resonance of metallic Cu nanoparticles.

In this study, BiVO4@Cu2O core-shell n-p heterojunctions based on BiVO4 nanospheres were synthesized via a template-free hydrothermal method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analyses confirmed the core-shell structure of the as-obtained samples. A possible mechanism of Cu2O shell formation on the surface of BiVO4 nanosphere was proposed based on the characterization results, which involved a deposition-reduction-crystallization process. The as-prepared BiVO4@Cu2O core-shell nanospheres exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to BiVO4 and Cu2O on the degradation of Rhodamine B under visible light irradiation, which could be attributed to the synergic effect on the separation and transfer of electrons and holes at the interface of BiVO4 and Cu2O. The possible photocatalytic mechanism was proposed based on the experimental results and calculated energy band positions.

Ni3S2@Ni composite electrode for supercapacitor is synthesized via a one-step solvothermal treatment of Ni foam at 120 degrees C, exhibiting a 3D meso/macroporous network structure. The structure contains Ni3S2 nanosheets with 15-20 nm in thickness and meso/macropores with an average pore size of 24.69 nm, and its formation is regulated through the slow release of S2- ions and the solid/liquid interfacial reactions in absolute ethanol. At a current density of 17.15 A g(-1), the composite electrode demonstrates a high specific capacitance of 945.71 F g(-1), and at various current densities below 17.15 A g(-1), it retains capacitance retention ratios above 100% after 2000 charge/discharge cycles. A two-step oxidation and three-step reverse reduction process occurs during the reversible Faradaic reaction of Ni3S2 in KOH aqueous solution, which is due to the valence transitions of Ni-0 in Ni3S2 between Ni-0 and Ni3+. The homogeneous cracking in Ni3S2 layer is a critical factor for achieving its long-term cycling stability, however, the cycling results in its amorphization. An asymmetric supercapacitor is assembled using Ni3S2@Ni composite electrode as the positive electrode and Ni foam as the negative electrode, which delivers an energy density of 55.79 Wh kg(-1) at the power density of 938.98 W kg(-1). Te-doped Bi<inf>2</inf>MoO<inf>6</inf>photocatalyst was hydrothermally synthesized, and nonmetal atoms Te were homogeneously incorporated into Bi<inf>2</inf>MoO<inf>6</inf>lattice with the substitution of Te<sup>4+</sup>to Mo<sup>6+</sup>. With increasing Te-doping concentration in Bi<inf>2</inf>MoO<inf>6</inf>, no detectable band-gap narrowing but more and more severe inhomogeneous lattice distortions were determined. The activity of Bi<inf>2</inf>MoO<inf>6</inf>photocatalyst was evaluated through methylene blue degradation under visible light irradiation (λ>410 nm) and was greatly enhanced by Te-doping. When Te-doped Bi<inf>2</inf>MoO<inf>6</inf>was synthesized at Te/Mo molar ratio of 7.5%, a maximum first-order rate constant of methylene blue degradation was obtained. The inhomogeneous lattice distortion generated an internal dipole moment, and the holes generated with the substitution of Te<sup>4+</sup>to Mo<sup>6+</sup>acted as the capturing centers of photogenerated electrons, thus the effective separation of photogenerated carriers was facilitated to result in a relatively high concentration of holes on the surface of Te-doped Bi<inf>2</inf>MoO<inf>6</inf>to be favorable for the efficient methylene blue degradation. ©2017 Elsevier Inc.

CuS hollow spheres have been successfully prepared using styrene-acrylic acid copolymer (PSA) latex particles as template. The process involved the deposition of inorganic coatings on the surface of PSA latex particles and subsequent removal of the latex particles by dispersing in toluene. The synthesized products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. The results showed the wall thickness of CuS shell to be about 20 nm and the pore diameter to be about 150 nm. The possible formation mechanism of CuS hollow spheres has been proposed. © 2008 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l.

摘要:
In(OH)3 and InOOH crystals were synthesized at different temperatures by diglycol-mediated solvothermal processes. Their phase structures, morphologies and growth mechanisms were investigated by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and chemical analysis. A small quantity of ((H2O)3In)Cl3 was observed in In(OH)3 crystals, which resulted in formation of In(OH)3 crystals with complicated shapes and morphologies. In(OH)3 grew along [1 0 0] direction, while ((H2O)3In)Cl3 grew preferentially along several crystal directions. In-situ transformation from both In(OH)3 and ((H2O)3In)Cl3 to InOOH developed at temperature higher than 140°C, consequently InOOH nanoparticles partly inherited the morphologies of In(OH)3 nanorods. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. 摘要:
Cuprous sulfide (Cu2-xS) crystals in different stoichiometries were synthesized by hydro- and solvo-thermal methods at 125°C using Na2S2O3 as sulfur source in pure water, mixed solvents of ethylenediamine (en) and water, and pure en, respectively. The products were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersion spectrometer (EDS), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and selected area electronic diffraction (SAED). Owing to different sulfur sources, crystal structures and morphologies of cuprous sulfides were different from those developed by some former researchers. Novel twelve-fold symmetrical Cu7S4 single crystals were synthesized at an en/water volume ratio of 3:1, and they were built up by two layers of about 80-100nm in thickness. Moreover, the possible growth process had been discussed based on the analyses of detailed configuration of the products. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

用正交实验设计和挤出-注射成型方法制备了纳米CaCO+3、钛酸钾晶须、丁腈橡胶改性(丙烯腈/丁二烯/苯乙烯)共聚物(ABS)复合材料,并以缺口冲击强度和弯曲弹性模量为主要指标,通过对正交实验结果的极差和方差分析得到了最佳配方,最后以其为基础制备了防撞护栏材料。结果表明,用挤出-注射成型方法制备ABS复合材料是可行的,正交实验设计、极差和方差分析方法能够有效应用于复合材料的配方优化,其最优方案为A_3B_3C_2D_4,所制备ABS复合材料的缺口冲击强度、弯曲弹性模量、弯曲强度和拉伸强度分别比纯ABS提高了39.8%、176%、79.3%和20.1%。

摘要:
利用挤出-注塑成型方法制备了纳米CaCO3/钛酸钾晶须/丁腈橡胶/ABS汽车防撞护栏材料。通过正交设计方法对复合材料的配方进行了优化。并用扫描电镜观察萁缺口冲击断面。结果表明:按最佳配方制备的复合材料的缺口冲击强度.弯曲弹性模量,弯曲和拉伸强度分男U比纯ABS提高了39.8%,176%,79.3%和20.1%。其防撞机理表现为材料受到冲击时橡胶颗粒内部及表面产生空穴,伴之以空穴之间聚合物链的伸展和剪切而导致基体的形变,属典型的塑性变形。

摘要:
ZnO nanorods were prepared by a hydrothermal reaction in the presence or absence of PVP (polyvinyl pyrrolidone). The obtained products were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared, UV-Vis absorption (UV) spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The results suggest that PVP plays an important role in the preparation of ZnO nanorods. The UV absorption spectrum showed PVP increases the UV-shielding ability but doesn't influence the transparency in the visible light region. A weak UV emission at 353 nm of PL spectra exhibit the surface of ZnO nanorods is passivated and oxygen-related defects is supplied by PVP.

摘要:
采用水热法成功合成了Cd_(1-x)Mn)xS(x=0~0.05)纳米棒。采用扫描电镜、X射线衍射和Raman光谱表征Cd(1-x)Mn_xS的形貌和微结构,通过紫外光谱和荧光光谱表征其光学特性。结果表明:随着Mn~(2+)含量的增加,Cd_(1-x)Mn_xS纳米棒直径基本保持不变,但长度变短,形貌变得较杂乱,并且伴随产生颗粒。Mn~(2+)掺杂CdS纳米棒保持了六方CdS结构,Mn~(2+)在CdS纳米棒晶体中代替部分Cd~(2+)的位置构成置换式固溶体。Cd_(1-x)Mn_xS纳米棒的紫外吸收光谱和荧光光谱都随Mn~(2+)含量的增加而逐渐红移。
