摘要:
In this paper, the polymerization of acrolein (A) via UV-mediated atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) is reported. The optimization of the experimental conditions of the polymerization is investigated, and it shows that dimethyl sulfoxide as solvent, ethyl 2-bromoisobutyrate (EBIB) and fluorescein (FL) as catalyst, and [A]0/[EBIB]0/[FL]0 = 200/1/0.1 in the period of 5 h at 47 °C are suitable conditions for the reaction. In this way, the yield of the polymer is 24.5%. The glass transition temperature and melting point of polyacrolein characterized by differential scanning calorimetry are 115.5 °C and 165.7 °C, respectively. At low conversion, the polymerization conforms to be the first-order kinetics reaction. The dependence of polymerization on light source is proved by “on/off” light source experiment. In short, this study opens up a new way for the ATRP of acrolein, and the polyacrolein with abundant aldehyde groups can be used in the fields of biomedical labeling, immobilization carrier and adsorption of organic amines. A radical polymerization reaction of acrolein is reported in this article. The free radical initiator which can effectively promote the free radical polymerization of acrolein is screened out. The optimal conditions of the reaction are investigated and the yield could be up to 93.67%, in which the ratio of initiator to monomer is 1:50, monomer concentration is 7.5molL−1, reaction temperature is 50°C, and the reaction time is 6h. The structure characterizations of the obtained polymers are performed using hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, fouriertransform infrared spectroscopy, and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time of fligh mass spectroscopy. The results show that the structure of the polymer contains fragments generated by decomposition of the initiator, aldehyde groups, and vinyl groups. The reaction mechanism of acrolein polymerization in the presence of free radical initiator is proposed. Thus, a novel method for the preparation of polyacrolein via radical polymerization is provided in this article. © 2020 Wiley-VCH GmbH

摘要:
Polyacrolein (PA) was prepared by photoinduced free radical polymerization for adsorption of congo red (CR). The structural and physicochemical properties of PA were characterized using BET, zeta potential measure-ments, SEM, FT-IR and XPS. The adsorption process of CR accorded with the pseudo-second-order kinetics, while the adsorption isotherm conformed to be the Langmuir model and the adsorption was proved to be the spon-taneous and endothermic process (Delta G(0) < 0, Delta H-0 > 0). Electrostatic attraction, hydrogen bond and chemical reaction (formation of imine) were the critical driving forces of adsorption. The good removal efficiency ob-tained during the five executed cycles suggested a good reusability of PA. It was noteworthy that salts in CR solution could promote the adsorption capacity of PA, in which Ca (II) could obviously improve the adsorption capacity and shorten the time to reach adsorption equilibrium. These results have provided very useful in-formation for removing CR and enhanced our understanding of the adsorption mechanism of PA on CR.

Alkyl bromide (R-Br) was employed as a starting compound (precursor) to initiate the bulk controlled radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) under thermal condition (60 degrees C) in the presence of tetra-noctylammonium iodide (Oct(4)NI) and 2,2'-azobisisoheptonitrile (V65). Alkyl iodide (R-I) and tetraoctylammonium bromide (Oct(4)NBr) were in situ generated by the reaction of R-Br with Oct(4)NI and then R-I was employed as an initiating dormant species for the polymerization. Carbon-iodine (C-I) bonds were cleaved and radicals were generated by the catalyst of Oct(4)NI and Oct(4)NBr. The chain end groups of the obtained polymers contain both I and Br, which was proved by the results of H-1 nuclear magnetic resonance spectra, and elemental analysis. The reversible halogen exchange of Br with I at the polymer chain end promotes the polymerization. The introducing of V65 not only increased the polymerization speed, but also ensured high monomer conversion. Low-polydispersity (M-w/M-n = 1.1-1.5) polymers were obtained with high conversions (e.g., 70-90%) in the polymerizations of methyl methacrylate, styrene, acrylonitrile, and functional methacrylates. The attractive feature was that alkyl bromide was able to initiate the controlled radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate under thermal condition in the presence of organic catalyst. Besides, this new system presented desirable features of high monomer versatility and the accessibility to a wide range of polymer structural designs for use in a range of applications.

摘要:
For the first time it isdemonstrated that sulfhydryl compounds can suppress longitudinal etching of gold nanorods via consuming oxidizers, which provides a new signaling mechanism for colorimetric sensing. As a proof of concept, a colorimetric assay is developed for detecting organophosphorus pesticides, which are most widely used in modern agriculture to improve food production but with high toxicity to animals and the ecological environment. Triazophos was selected as a model organophosphorus pesticide. In the absence of triazophos, the active acetylcholinesterase can catalyze the conversion of acetylthiocholine iodide to thiocholine whose thiol group can suppress the I(2)-induced etching of gold nanorods. When triazophos is present, the activity of AchE is inhibited, and I(2)-induced etching of gold nanorods results in triazophos concentration-dependent color change from brown to blue, pink, and red. The aspect ratio of gold nanorods reduced with gradually blue-shifted longitudinal absorption. There was a linear detection range from 0 to 117nM (R(2) = 0.9908), the detection limit was 4.69nM, and a good application potential was demonstrated by theassay of real water samples. This method will not only contribute to public monitoring of organophosphorus pesticides but also has verified a new signaling mechanism which will open up a new path to develop colorimetric detection methods. It has been first found that sulfhydryl compounds can suppress longitudinal etching of gold nanorods (AuNRs) via consuming oxidizers, which provides a new signaling mechanism for colorimetric sensing. As a proof of concept, a colorimetric assay is developed for sensitively detecting organophosphorus pesticides (OPs). It will not only contribute to public monitoring of OPs but also has verified a new signaling mechanism which will open up a new path to develop multicolor colorimetric methods.

With the exaggerated growth of solid tumor, the depletion of O-2 in interior cells far exceeds their blood supply, leading to low levels of O-2 in tumor microenvironment (Hypoxia). Low concentration of O-2 often cause many problems in tumor cells, including poor prognosis, increased metastasis and pro-survival changes in gene expression. Thus, developing new imaging strategy for living cells under hypoxic conditions is strongly desirable. In this review, we discuss recent progress in hypoxia-responsive fluorescent nanoprobes for imaging and cancer therapy. First, we describe two basic elements of fluorescent nanoprobes, including recognition moiety and nanomaterial-based carrier. Then, recent progress in fluorescent nanoprobes for imaging under hypoxic conditions is summarized. Finally, we outline development of hypoxia-responsive fluorescent nanoprobes for simultaneous imaging and cancer treatment. We aim to provide a comprehensive summary of application for distinguishing tumor hypoxic status, diagnosing disease and developing hypoxia-responsive anticancer nanodrugs. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V. Three α/β compound nucleating agents based on 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid tris(cyclohexylamide) (BTA-99) were prepared by using β-nucleating agents aromatic diamides (TMB-5), dicarboxylic acid salts (CaPi) and rare earth compound (WBG-II), and nucleation effects of the nucleating agents in isotactic polypropylene (iPP) were investigated. The optimal ratio of BTA-99 to TMB-5, CaPi and WBG-II was 1:1, 4:1 and 2:3, respectively, and the crystallization peak temperatures of iPP nucleated with BTA-99/TMB-5, BTA-99/CaPi and BTA-99/WBG-II were increased from 117.7 °C of pure iPP to 129.7 °C, 127.6 °C and 128.9 °C under the optimal ratio, respectively. Moreover, all compound nucleating agents with the optimal compound ratio improved both the stiffness and the toughness of iPP, and TMB-5 was more suitable as a component for preparing compound nucleating agents with BTA-99 than WBG-II and CaPi. Meanwhile, an interesting phenomenon was found that the smaller the difference of the nucleation efficiency between two nucleating agents, the better the nucleation effect of the compound agent was.

A colorimetric and visual assay is described for the herbicide aminotriazole (ATZ). It is based on the etching of gold nanorods (AuNRs) by iodine which is formed on oxidation of iodide via H2O2. Longitudinal etching of the AuNRs occurs quickly and is accompanied by a color change from dark blue to red. In the absence of ATZ and the presence of active catalase (CAT), H2O2 is quickly decomposed into water, and the AuNRs will not be etched. In thepresence of ATZ, CAT is partially deactivated, and this affects the amount of available H2O2 and, consequently, of the iodine. Hence, the color is significantly changed. The color changes can be easily detected with bare eyes. The assay has a linear response in the 5 to 70μM concentration range, with a detection limit of 1.3μM and high selectivity for ATZ. A series of adipic acid metal salts as nucleating agents for isotactic polypropylene (iPP) were synthesized from adipic acid (Adi) and corresponding metal hydroxides or chlorides by neutralization or double decomposition reaction. The effect of different adipate on the crystallization and melting behavior of iPP were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results indicated that after adding different metal salts of adipic acids, the crystallization peak temperature of nucleated iPP was increased by different degree. Adi, barium adipate (Adi-Ba), and zinc adipate (Adi-Zn) had higher nucleation efficiency. Notably, Adi-Zn and Adi-Ba were highly effective β-crystal nucleating agents; the others were α-crystal nucleating agents. In addition, the relative content of β-crystals in nucleated iPP was higher than 0.9 with the addition of Adi-Ba or Adi-Zn, especially when Adi-Zn was added at 0.05mass% reached 0.9422, indicating that Adi-Ba and Adi-Zn are highly active and selective β-nucleating agents for iPP. © 2018, Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary.

Detection of biomarkers in complex samples is a significant health plan strategy for medical diagnosis, therapy monitoring, and health management. However, high background noise resulting from impurities and other analytes in complex samples has hampered the improvement of detection sensitivity and accuracy. Herein, an ultralow background biochip based on time-gated luminescent probes supported by photonic crystals (PCs) was successfully developed for detection of bladder cancer (BC)-related miRNA biomarkers with high sensitivity and specificity in urine samples. Coupled with the time-gated luminescence of long-lifetime luminescence probes and the luminescence-enhanced capability of PCs, the short-lived autofluorescence can be efficiently removed; thus, the detection sensitivity will be significantly improved. Benefiting from these merits, a detection limit of 26.3 fM is achieved. Furthermore, the biochip exhibits excellent performance in urinary miRNA detection, and good recoveries are also obtained. The developed biochip possesses unique properties of ultralow background and luminescence enhancement, thus offering a suitable tool for the detection of BC-related miRNA in urine. With rational design of probe sequences, the biochip holds great potential for many other biomarkers in real patient samples, making it valuable in areas such as medical diagnosis and disease evaluation.

Febrile seizure (FS), a frequently encountered seizure disorder in pediatric populations, can cause hippocampus damage. It has been elucidated that sulfur dioxide (SO2) content is overproduced during the development of FS and related brain injury. Thus, monitoring in situ the level of endogenous SO2 in FS-related models is helpful to estimate the pathogenesis of FS-induced brain injury, but the effect detection method remains to be explored. Herein, we developed a two-photon energy transfer cassette based on an acedan-anthocyanidin scaffold, TP-Ratio-SO2, allowing us to achieve this purpose. TP-Ratio-SO2 specifically responds to SO2 derivatives (HSO3 -/SO3 2-) in an ultrafast fashion (less than 3 s), and HSO3 -/SO3 2- can be sensitively determined with a detection limit of 26 nM. Moreover, it exhibits significant changes in two well-resolved fluorescence emissions (Δ λ = 140 nm) by reacting with HSO3 -/SO3 2-, behaving as a ratiometric fluorescent sensor. Importantly, ratiometric imaging of endogenous SO2 derivatives generation in hyperpyretic U251 cells and in a rat model of FS-treated hippocampus damage was successfully carried out by TP-Ratio-SO2, demonstrating that it may be a promising tool for studying the role of SO2 in FS-associated neurological diseases. The polycondensation of 2-pyrazolines is presented. The products are oligomers with the five-membered rings of the 2-pyrazoline as the backbone and the reaction is a polycondensation reaction by decomposition of ROH from the hydrogen atom in the -NH- group and the -OR in the ester group. Metal catalysts, reaction periods, and the addition amounts of the catalyst are investigated to optimize the reaction conditions. The products are down-/up-conversion fluorescence molecules that can significantly enhance cell imaging through the synchronized excitation of visible and near-infrared light and may be widely used in other optical fields. © 2018 American Chemical Society.

摘要:
The development of an efficient ratiometric two-photon fluorescence imaging probe is crucial for in situ monitoring of biothiol cysteine (Cys) in biosystems, but the current reported intramolecular charge transfer (ICT)-based one suffers from serious overlap between the shifted emission bands. To address this issue, we herein for the first time constructed an ICT-mediated two-photon excited fluorescence resonance energy transfer (TP-FRET) system consisting of a two-photon fluorogen benzo[h]chromene and a Cys-responsive benzoxadiazole-analogue dye. Different from a previous mechanism that utilized single two-photon fluorogen to acquire a ratiometric signal, ICT was used to switch on the TP-FRET process of the energy transfer dyad by eliciting an absorption shift of benzoxadiazole with Cys to modulate the spectral overlap level between benzo[h]chromene emission and benzoxadiazole absorption, resulting in two well-separated emission signal changes with large emission wavelength shift (120 nm), fixed two-photon excitation maximum (750 nm), and significant variation in fluorescence ratio (over 36-fold). Therefore, it can be successfully employed to ratiometrically visualize Cys in HeLa cells and liver tissues. Importantly, this new ICT-mediated TP-FRET integration mechanism would be convenient for designing ratiometric two-photon fluorescent probes with two well-resolved emission spectra suitable for high resolution two-photon fluorescence bioimaging. © 2018 American Chemical Society.

Nanotheranostics, combing diagnostic and therapeutic components in an all-in-one nanomaterial, possess exciting potentials for precision nanomedicine. However, a major obstacle for current nanotheranostics to enter preclinical and/or clinical trials is the intrinsic toxicities of these nanomaterials. As an emerging biomaterial, the bioinspired DNA nanostructure shows advantages for constructing better nanotheranostics due to its excellent features, including native biocompatibility, full programmability, and ready accessibility. In this feature article, we highlight recent advances in the design of DNA-nanostructure-based diagnostics and/or therapeutics capable of specifically responding to biological stimuli in a dynamic way, with a particular focus on the design mechanism, responsive performance, and potential for preclinical and/or clinical trials in personalized theranostics. © 2018 American Chemical Society.

It is of scientific significance to explore the intricate relationship between two crucial gasotransmitters nitric oxide (NO) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) because they exert similar and interdependent biological actions within the living organisms. Nevertheless, visualization of the NO/H2S crosstalk using effective molecular imaging tools remains challenging. To address this issue, and given that nitroxyl (HNO) has been implicated as the interdependent production of NO and H2S via a network of cascading chemical reactions, we herein design a ratiometric two-photon fluorescent probe for HNO, termed TP-Rho-HNO, which consists of benzo[h]chromene-rhodol scaffold as two-photon energy transfer cassette with phosphine moiety as specific HNO recognition unit. The newly proposed probe has been successfully applied in ratiometric two-photon bioimaging of endogenous HNO derived from NO and H2S interaction in the human umbilical vein cells (HUVECs) and as well as in rat brain tissues. Intriguingly, the imaging results consistently demonstrate that the mutually dependent upgeneration of H2S and NO are present in living biosystems, indicating that this molecular probe would provide a powerful approach to elucidate the chemical foundation for the anfractuous cross-talk between the NO and H2S signaling pathways in biology. © 2017 American Chemical Society.

The changes in sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] proteins during germination and the resultant effects on the physicochemical properties of sorghum flour were studied using non-germinated grains as a control. Results showed that flour obtained from germinated sorghum grains had lower protein levels, higher protease levels, and higher free amino nitrogen content compared with the control. There was an increase in the albumin and globulin protein fractions and a decrease in kafirin. Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis analysis indicated that this decrease was the result of a decrease in γ-kafirins, while microscopy found that a continuous protein network was formed. Following the germination-associated protein changes, the viscosities of sorghum paste decreased with germination from a peak viscosity value of 1,324 rapid visco units (RVU) down to 727 RVU in white sorghum (WS), and from 1,549 RVU to 1,295 RVU in red sorghum (RS). The hardness of the sorghum gels was significantly enhanced after germination, with WS increasing from 1,640 g to 5,374 g and RS from 970 g to 5,529 g. Thus, the study revealed that germination decreased the viscosity of sorghum paste and increased the strength of sorghum gel by changing the content and structure of sorghum protein, making it possible to design new foods that require thickening and gelling using germinated sorghum. Practical applications: Germination triggers the protease system of sprouting seeds, leading to the breakdown of proteins into simpler forms that decrease the viscosity of sorghum paste and improve the strength of sorghum gel, allowing the use of germinated sorghum to design new foods that require thickening and gelling. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

3D urchin-like TiO2(UT)/reduced graphene oxide (RGO) composite was fabricated via two processes. Pure UT was first synthesized by solvothermal reaction and UT/RGO(UTG) composite was then prepared by hydrothermal reaction. The urchin-like morphology of as-prepared material was confirmed by SEM and TEM. XRD analysis confirmed the presence of RGO and demonstrated that both pure UT and UTG composite consist of a rutilephase. FT-IR, Raman spectroscopy and XPS characterization demonstrated that graphene oxide was successfully reduced to RGO and RGO well combined with UT. The UV–visible spectrum of UTG composite showed strong absorption in the visible light region (i.e., a blue shift was observed). The UTG composite exhibited larger specific surface area than pure UT (and much larger than P25) owing to the addition of RGO. The formation of Ti–O–C bond possibly separated the photo-generated carriers and transferred the photoelectrons to RGO quickly because of the high electron mobility of RGO, thereby hindering the recombination process. Moreover, experimental results indicated that the UTG composite showed high efficiency in photodegradation of RhB. © 2016 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l.

摘要:
In this communication, we propose a gold nanorod-based SERS nanotracker to monitor the local pH change during photothermal therapy (PTT). The dynamic SERS analysis indicated that the local pH of the lysosome in living cells increased during the PTT which would be helpful to understand the cellular metabolic processes and further facilitate the photosensitizer screening and optimization.

In the past decades, numerous electrochemical sensors based on exogenous electroactive substance have been reported. Due to non-specific interaction between the redox mediator and the target, the instability caused by false signal may not be avoided. To address this issue, in this paper, a new electrochemical sensor based on spiropyran skeleton, namely SPOSi, was designed for specific electrochemical response to fluoride ions (F-). The breakage of Si-O induced by F- based on the specific nucleophilic substitution reaction between F- and silica would directly produce a hydroquinone structure for electrochemical signal generation. To improve the sensitivity, SPOSi probe was assembled on the single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) through the π-π conjugating interaction. This electrode was successfully applied to monitor F- with a detection limit of 8.3 × 10-8 M. Compared with the conventional F- ion selected electrode (ISE) which utilized noncovalent interaction, this method displays higher stability and a comparable sensitivity in the urine samples. © 2016 Elsevier B.V.
